We asked Technical Display Systems if they could help us with our displays and create something amazing in our auditorium and theatre, as well as a large display in the reception and a video wall in our lounge. When we were approached by Daniel from The Fragrance Shop, to supply and install AV in 4 different areas of their brand new headquarters in Manchester, we gave them our word that we adhere to their timescales and that we would exceed their expectations with regards the hardware and installation.
Their request was for us to supply and install a Phillips 75” commercial display 4.5m high in their reception, a 2×2 Samsung Video wall in the lounge, a long throw 4k Laser Projector in their auditorium and a 4k laser projector in their theatre.
We had to work according to progress on the works being undertaken internally and so staged the installations over a 3-month period of time, working closely with our client to ensure that we accommodated their installation date requests, sometimes at short notice, to ensure that each area was completed on time and as per the client’s requirements. We did this and all to the complete satisfaction of our client.
Auditorium
We started with planning for the installation of the long throw 4k Laser Projector in the auditorium. Our client wanted a space filling on the wall at the end of the building, so the options we put forward included a large video wall, LED display, or a long throw projector. Our client opted for the long throw projector option, which gave them the best value and quality image for their budget.
We sourced and supplied, a 4k Laser Projector that required a lens that could throw the image over 40ft from one end of the building to the other. Mounting the projector to a steel I-Beam, we were able to locate it in the perfect position, which allowed us to fill the wall space to produce a 7m wide image.
We used a Kramer Cat6 Video Sender and Receiver to transfer the input from a distribution room 40mts away, with RS232 remote control to switch it on and off.
The clarity and brightness of the image is mind-blowing said one of the managers, which is exactly what we wanted to hear.
The Auditorium
Reception
For the reception, our client wanted to display the company’s latest videos and commercials to everyone who enters the reception. Being a company that specialises in making people look and smell good, we wanted to make sure that the display we installed also had the wow factor.
Located 4.5m high above the reception desk, we installed a Phillips 75” commercial display, with a full HD image, you simply can’t miss it when you walk in.
The display can also be seen from outside from the main road, so passing traffic can also see what is being displayed.
2×2 Samsung Video Wall
Our client asked us to install a video wall in their lounge area, so as to promote all their commercials and other promotional content. We installed a 2×2 Samsung Video Wall, made up of 4 x 55” displays, mounted using pull out service brackets, to allow for easy access when servicing the displays. We connected a BrightSign Media Player to allow content to be updated and changed remotely from anywhere, anytime.
The video wall displays content in Full HD and looks perfectly at home in it’s location in the lounge.
Theatre
The client asked for us to install a 4k Projector in their theatre, which would be used as a multifunction room, for both presentations and premiering their latest commercials and promotional videos.
The client wanted to show a smaller size image when presenting and when showing videos, they wanted the image to fill the wall as much as possible. When in presentation mode, the image is 5m wide, and when in video mode, the image is almost 8m wide. To make it easy to transfer from one mode to the other, we installed a SY Control plate which allows for switching between image modes and on and off functions.
We mounted the projector on a pole mount, that we fixed through the mixing desk and secured it from underneath, giving a rigid fixing. Mounted on an adjustable plate, the projector was secure and easy to access for servicing.
