Kampus – Manchester
Our residents expect the best and so we give them the best, and TDS didn’t let us down with our video wall and Wexer Virtual Fitness system installation. From start to finish, they were great to deal with and didn’t let us down.
Oli Macaulay – Strom Fitness Group
We were approached by our client, Strom Fitness, to supply and install a 4-screen video wall to work in conjunction with a Wexer Virtual Gym, and a HQ audio system with Bluetooth connectivity throughout the gym and studio. We were introduced to the management at Kampus Manchester and had several meetings to discuss their requirements and timescales.
The client wanted to incorporate a large screen display in their residents’ gym, and to also provide virtual fitness classes that the residents could use as and when they desired, along with an audio system that worked throughout the gym and studio.
Kampus is a joint venture between social-impact developers Capital & Centric and HBD. The vision for this former Manchester Metropolitan University site was to create a vibrant garden neighborhood with secret streets, independent food and drink, and a green space for the entire city.
Why Kampus Chose Technical Display
The management team at Kampus wanted to provide their residents with state-of-the-art gym facilities where they could choose from a library of different virtual fitness classes to be displayed on to a large display screen. As the refurbishment of the building was well underway when we were introduced to the client, the challenge that we were faced with was how we could install a large display and a virtual fitness player into a room that was almost completed. We could only do this by working closely with the builders, electricians, and the buildings IT team.
By liaising with the building company, we ensured that the clients request for a large display would be possible.
A dedicated Project Manager was assigned to the project to ensure the smoothest delivery possible. Once we had carried out intrusive and non-intrusive surveys in the room where the client had requested the display and virtual fitness player to be installed, we provided the client with a comprehensive technical report and full quotation which included options for either an 85” LCD display or a 2 x 2 110” Video Wall.
The report and quotation gave Kampus all the information they required to make their decision, and so the client decided to go with the 2 x 2 video wall, as this gave them a larger image.
Technical Display Systems was then instructed by Kampus to proceed with the supply and installation of a 2 x 2 110” LG Commercial Grade video wall, made up of 4 55” screens, and a Wexer Virtual Fitness Player, complete with a high-quality Dennon sound system in both the gym and studio. Playing through a Dennon Multimedia Player also allows for Bluetooth connectivity in each area, allowing residents to connect their own devices to the system.
