‘Martyn’s Law’ is a legislative program being introduced by the government to enhance the safety and security of public venues and ensure the protection of the British public against terrorism. This bill mandates that specific public premises and events must be adequately prepared and safeguarded against potential terrorist attacks. It requires them to take necessary but proportionate measures based on their capacity to minimise the impact of an attack and minimise harm.
The law introduces a tiered approach based on capacity: buildings with a capacity of over 100 will fall under the standard duty, while those with a capacity exceeding 800 will be subject to an enhanced duty.
