This case study highlights the New Victoria project, a residential-led mixed-use development in the heart of Manchester city centre adjacent to Manchester Victoria Station. This project aimed to create a modern and versatile living experience for residents.
Client’s Vision
The client aimed to enhance the living experience for residents and guests by integrating a multi-function events space, a state-of-the-art cinema room, and a zoned PA system for background music and voice announcements on the entire ground-level floor. The system was divided into seven distinct zones, each with its own programmable features:
Reception (Zone 1): The welcoming area for visitors and residents.
Lounge Area (Zone 2): A comfortable space for relaxation and socialising.
Work Zone (Zone 3): Designed for productivity and focused work.
Events Room (Zone 4): A multifunctional space for gatherings, meetings, and events.
Kitchen (Zone 5): A gathering space for residents who wish to cook and dine with guests.
Cinema Room (Zone 6): A dedicated entertainment area for movie nights.
Gym (Zone 7): Fitness and wellness space.

PA System – Multifunctional Room – Cinema Area
Key Features of the PA System:
Individual Volume Control: Each zone has its own volume control, allowing residents/management to adjust audio levels according to their preferences.
Music Selection Feature: Management can choose music specific to each zone, creating a customized ambience in each area. Music is provided via Perfect Octave Players, with one player dedicated to each zone.
Central Control Panel: A main control panel located near the reception area, allowing management to facilitate music selection and system management. It is a touchscreen display with a floor layout, making it easy for management to dictate which zones play what genre of music. For example, the reception and lounge areas may have classical background music, whereas the gym may play more upbeat music.
Branded and Personalised: The touch screens in the Events space, Cinema, and Reception Main Control Panel match the building’s branding, providing a tailored and bespoke finish that aligns with the rest of the building’s branding.
Thoughtful Design and Resident-Centric Amenities
Multifunctional Events Room
The Events Room is a focal point of the development, serving various purposes. It is equipped with:
NEC Laser Projector: Installed to provide high-quality visual presentations.
Retractable Screen: A large screen that can be concealed when not used.
5.1 Surround Sound: Immersive audio for presentations, events, gaming, and movie screenings.
Small Touch Screen Panel: Allows users to control all multimedia elements seamlessly.
HDMI Input Plate: Users can connect their personal devices (laptops, tablets, etc.) to project content onto the screen.
Streaming Services Integration: Users can select channels from popular streaming platforms like Roku, Netflix, Prime, and Disney on the touch screen.
Volume Control: PA Background music can be adjusted via the volume control when the Events Room is in use.
Cinema Room
To cater to residents’ entertainment needs, a dedicated Cinema Room was created, equipped with:
NEC Laser Projector: Installed to provide high-quality visual presentations.
Large Fixed Projector Screen: A cinema-style screen for the best viewing experience.

To ensure confidence in the Audio-Visual equipment provided by Technical Display, the system was designed to meet and exceed the client’s requirements. The bespoke custom-made system is user-friendly and robust in its operation. All services installed were designed for a long life, backed up by a 2-year Service Level Agreement, giving the client peace of mind at all times.
