Solihull MBC AV Presentation Installation
l

SolihullTechnical Display won a competitive tender to design, specify and install an Audio Visual presentation solution for two Committee Rooms.

Solihull had a basic specification for their needs and Technical Display shared their experience to assist them in developing this to achieve a simple to use highly functional solution for both rooms.

Requirements:

Solihull MBC wished to have both rooms fitted out with the latest AV presentation facilities. Key requirements were as follows.

  • To minimise or eliminate completely the time required for Civic Suite staff to set up the equipment
  • The installed solution should have a minimal impact on the aesthetics and fabric of the rooms
  • SolihullA suitable presentation lectern needed for Committee Room 1 and an equipment cabinet for Committee Room 4
  • Both to securely house all necessary equipment
  • Both lectern and equipment cabinets to have easy accessible input plates and power sockets for visiting laptops
  • Lectern and equipment cabinet should incorporate a simple to use control panel to switch on and operate all of the AV systems
  • Expansion potential for a Visualiser/Document camera; web streaming and video conference link to be part of the system design
  • Interactive Whiteboards or Touch Screen technology to be used
  • Committee Room 4 to have a secure induction loop for the hard of hearing
  • The solution should be designed to integrate with existing audio discussion system in Committee Room 1

Solution:

  • Technical Display designed and built a bespoke presentation lectern for the larger Committee Room 1 and an equipment cabinet for the smaller Committee Room 4.
  • Both units were stained to compliment the room furniture
  • Each had a recessed AMX Procon push button control panel for easy to use control of presentations.
  • All programming of the AMX Procon control panel was undertaken by Technical Display
  • SolihullOperational equipment was housed in easy to access (for service and maintenance), 19" racks within the cabinets
  • An Hitachi 17" Interactive touch screen monitor was used in Committee Room 1 and an Hitachi 77" Interactive Whiteboard in Committee Room 4
  • In Committee Room 1 two large 250W x 190Hcm tab tensioned projection screens were located at each end of the room to facilitate Planning Meetings
  • All existing equipment in Committee Room 1 was integrated into the design solution
  • Power saving was an issue and the control system was designed to completely power down all equipment when switched off, rather than go to stand-by mode
  • A hard of hearing support system was provided for Committee Room 4
